About Us

The Western Cape Department of Economic Development and Tourism (DEDAT), is leading the Municipal Investment Readiness Programme which is a strategic initiative aimed at assessing and strengthening the investment readiness of municipalities across the province, in all regions. This programme seeks to enhance local government capacity to attract and facilitate investment by identifying key challenges, streamlining processes, and fostering a more business-friendly environment.

This platform serves as a central hub for data-driven insights, providing interactive dashboards that display municipal investment readiness scores. By analysing institutional capacity, regulatory efficiency, investment facilitation mechanisms, and economic potential, the platform offers a transparent view of municipal strengths, gaps, and opportunities. These insights enable municipalities to make informed decisions, improve service delivery, and implement targeted interventions that enhance their ability to secure and sustain investment.

Our mission is to empower local governments with the necessary tools, frameworks, and best practices to improve investment facilitation, create a predictable and efficient business environment, and drive sustainable economic development. By supporting municipalities in their investment readiness journey, we aim to build investor confidence, stimulate economic growth, and contribute to the broader development goals of the Western Cape.
